Terms of Use

These Terms of Use govern your use of the iOS application “Split Notes”, listed on the App Store as “Chigiri Memo - Split Notes” and released in Japanese as “Chigiri Memo” (the “App”), provided by Keiji Hirose (the “Developer”). By using the App you agree to these Terms.

This is an English translation provided for convenience. If it conflicts with the Japanese version, the Japanese version prevails.

1. What the App does

The App is a notes application. You write freely onto one continuous page, divide it with “cut lines”, and then copy, share or delete one block at a time. Headings are switched with the tabs along the top.

No account and no sign-in are required. The Developer does not receive what you write in the App.

2. Storage and backup

Your notes, tab layout, earlier versions and settings (text size, dark mode and so on) are stored only on your iPhone. There is no facility on the Developer's servers for holding them.
There is no syncing between devices.
App data is included in your iPhone backup, but that is a function of Apple's backup service. The Developer does not guarantee that data will not be lost.
If data is lost through deleting the App, or through a device being reset, damaged or lost, the Developer cannot restore it.
Each tab keeps its last 30 versions; older ones are discarded automatically.

Please keep a copy of anything important somewhere other than the App.

3. What you write

The App is designed with the expectation that you may keep IDs, reference numbers and account numbers in it — things you would rather not show anyone.
However, the App does not encrypt the content it stores. The “screen lock” covers the text displayed on screen.
What you choose to write, and with whom you share it, is your own decision and responsibility.
The Developer accepts no responsibility for content once it has been passed outside the App via “Copy / Share”.

4. Removing ads (in-app purchase)

The App is free to use, with no feature restrictions in the free version.
“Remove ads” is a one-time purchase, not an auto-renewing subscription. Once purchased, you are not billed again. The price is shown by the App Store in your local currency at the point of purchase.
The purchase removes the banner advertising. Nothing else about the App changes.
Payment is handled by the Apple App Store. The Developer does not receive your payment details. Refunds are governed by Apple's policies.
Using the same Apple ID, you can restore the purchase after reinstalling or changing devices, via “Restore purchases” in the App's menu.
The purchase is tied to your Apple ID and is unrelated to the notes on your device. Restoring a purchase does not restore notes.

5. Advertising

Unless “Remove ads” has been purchased, the App displays banner advertising (Google AdMob) to support its free operation. See the Privacy Policy for how advertising data is handled.

6. Prohibited conduct

Anything unlawful or contrary to public order and morals.
Interfering with the operation of the App, unauthorised access, or reverse engineering.
Circumventing the purchase mechanism to obtain paid features.
Anything else the Developer reasonably considers inappropriate.

7. Intellectual property

Intellectual property rights in the App and its text, images and design belong to the Developer or the respective rights holders. What you write in the App belongs to you.

8. Disclaimers

The Developer does not guarantee that data will not be lost, or that the App will be available without interruption.
The Developer does not warrant that the App is fit for any particular purpose, nor that it provides any particular level of confidentiality.
The App may be changed, suspended or discontinued without notice.
To the extent permitted by law, the Developer is not liable for any damages arising from use of the App.

9. Changes to these Terms

The Developer may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version applies from the moment it is published on this page.

10. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Any dispute relating to the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the court having jurisdiction over the Developer's location as the court of first instance.
