Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled in the iOS application “Split Notes”, listed on the App Store as “Chigiri Memo - Split Notes” and released in Japanese as “Chigiri Memo” (the “App”), provided by Keiji Hirose (the “Developer”).
The App does not send your notes to the Developer's servers. Your notes, tabs, earlier versions and settings are stored only in a database on your iPhone. There is no account and no sign-in.
1. What never leaves your device
The following is never transmitted off the device under any circumstances. The Developer has no means of receiving it.
- The text of your notes
- Tab names, order and count
- Earlier versions (the last 30 per tab)
- What you type into search, and the results of the “repeated text” check
- Settings such as text size, dark mode and language
These are held in a database on the device (chigiri_memo.db). The App does not use generative AI.
2. Information handled
| Information | What it is | Purpose | Sent to |
|---|---|---|---|
| Notes, tabs, earlier versions, settings | What you write, and the state of the app | Storing, displaying and searching on the device | On device only. Not transmitted. |
| Purchase status | Whether “Remove ads” has been purchased. Contains no name or email address | Deciding whether to show ads; restoring purchases | Apple (App Store) |
| Advertising identifier (IDFA) | Collected by Google AdMob only if you grant permission under App Tracking Transparency (ATT) | Serving and measuring banner ads | Google AdMob |
| General information sent when serving ads | IP address, device type, approximate region and similar data collected automatically by the ad provider | Serving banner ads | Google AdMob |
The App does not use location (GPS), contacts, the photo library, the camera, the microphone or notifications, and does not display permission prompts for any of them.
3. Advertising
Unless “Remove ads” has been purchased, a banner advertisement (Google AdMob) is shown at the bottom of the screen.
- The content of your notes is never used for advertising. Ad providers cannot read your notes.
- Under iOS App Tracking Transparency (ATT), the App asks for permission to track. Every feature of the App works exactly the same if you decline.
- You can change your choice at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- For how Google AdMob handles information, see the Google Privacy Policy.
Purchasing “Remove ads” stops advertisements from being displayed at all.
4. Third-party services
- Apple (App Store payments) — purchases are processed directly by Apple. The Developer does not receive payment details.
- Google AdMob (advertising) — as described in section 3. Privacy Policy
No other third-party services are used. Information handled by the App is never sold to third parties.
5. Face ID / Touch ID
The screen lock is released using your device's biometric authentication (Face ID / Touch ID). The App receives only whether authentication succeeded. Face and fingerprint data are processed by the device and cannot be accessed by the App.
If biometric authentication fails, your device passcode also releases the lock. On a device with neither biometrics nor a passcode configured there would be no way to unlock, so the lock is not offered at all.
6. Storage location and backup
The database lives under the app's Documents directory, so it is included in iCloud Backup (and comes back via “Restore from Backup” when you change devices). That is a function of Apple's backup service; the Developer does not hold your data.
If you would rather it were not backed up, you can exclude the App in iOS Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Backup.
7. How to delete
Being able to remove what you wrote is a design premise of the App. So that nothing you deleted lingers in a history, the following are provided.
- Delete a block — tap “To delete” above the cut line, then tap the greyed-out block and confirm.
- Delete a whole tab — from the ✕ on the selected tab (the last remaining tab cannot be deleted). Its contents go with it.
- Delete earlier versions — tap the timestamp at the top of the note and delete them individually or all at once.
- Delete the App — all data on the device is removed.
Deletion cannot be undone. Older content already captured in an iCloud Backup is governed by Apple's backup mechanism.
8. Your rights
The App does not hold your personal information on the Developer's servers. There is therefore no data held by the Developer to disclose, correct or erase on request. Data on your device can be deleted by you at any time using the methods in section 7.
If anything is unclear, please contact support@lifebot.jp.
9. Children
The App is a general-purpose notes app with no chat or messaging between users. It is not directed at children under 13, and the Developer does not knowingly collect information from children.
10. Changes to this Policy
The Developer may update this Policy from time to time. The updated version applies from the moment it is published on this page.
