The Idea

From somewhere, orbs of light drift down. Red, green and blue — the three primary colors of light.

Paint gets muddy the more you mix it, but light only grows brighter. When all three colors gather in equal measure, they turn white.

That white light becomes a mist and grows the small trees inside the test tubes — until the test tubes become one forest.

The music is born from the order you place the orbs of light. The same tune never plays twice. And any orbs left over roll into the bead counter, counting your score.

The Light

Colors that grow brighter as they overlap

The colors in this game are light, not paint. Red and green make yellow, green and blue make cyan, and blue and red make magenta.

Only when red, green and blue gather in equal numbers does the light turn white. That white light becomes a mist, and the tree inside the tube grows.

How to Play

Hold, match, and grow a forest

Orbs of light drifting down from above
i.

Hold and drop

Orbs of light drift slowly down from above. Hold one with your finger, slide it left or right, and drop it into one of the eight test tubes. Flick down to make it fall faster. Once an orb is inside a tube, it can no longer move.

Hint labels such as R1 G0 B1
ii.

Match them evenly

Put red, green and blue orbs into one tube, the same number of each. The matched light becomes white mist and the tree grows. Tubes with mixed colors show hint labels like “R1 G0 B1”.

Turn eight tubes into a forest

When the trees in all eight tubes reach the rim, the forest is complete. When no tube can take another orb, the game is over, and the orbs left over decide your score. One game takes about three minutes.

  1. Hold an orb of light and slide it left or right. Flick down to make it fall faster.
  2. Once an orb is inside a tube, it can no longer move. Choose the tube before you drop it.
  3. Put red, green and blue orbs into one tube, the same number of each.
  4. Then they turn white. This is the same as the nature of light.
  5. Inside a tube, the orbs of light blend and change color. This, too, is how light behaves.
  6. Turn the RGB Hint button ON, and labels show the mix of each color. Read them to see which orb you need.
  7. In the hint, R is red, G is green, and B is blue.
  8. When the numbers after R, G and B match, it turns white.
  9. When the RGB ratio is equal, the orbs become white mist and the tree in the tube grows.
  10. When no tube can take another orb, the game is over.
  11. Try to grow tall trees in every tube.

A Forest in Glass

A tiny forest, behind glass

It begins with soil and a single sprout. Each time white light reaches it, the tree grows a little, and other small plants gather around its roots.

Only when you fill all eight tubes without leaving a single orb behind. From left to right, each tree grows one step taller, and a white flower opens at its tip, one by one.

In Stages 1–5 you can use the RGB Hint: labels like “R2 G1 B1” appear above tubes with mixed colors. As the stages go on, some tubes start out holding orbs of a single color.

Stages 6–10 are just as difficult as 1–5, but without the RGB Hint. Instead of labels, you read the color in each tube and count for yourself.

“About Colors” in the app

About Colors

For the stages without hints, the app includes “About Colors”. The color in a tube tells you which orb to drop next. Yellow has red and green, but no blue — so add blue, and it turns white.

Music

The same tune never plays twice

There is no fixed soundtrack. The sound of an orb appearing, entering a tube, melting in, a tree growing — all of it is born from the order in which you place the orbs.

The order of the colors changes the shape of the chord.

Bead Counter

Counting your score with a bead counter

When the game ends, the test tube rack recedes into the distance, and an antique wooden bead counter comes down from above. The orbs left over roll one by one into its holes, numbered 1 to 100.

FAQ

Questions

I'm not good at falling-block puzzles. Can I still play?
Orbs of light drift down slowly, one every five seconds. The pace is the same in every stage, and above the rim of the tubes you can still move an orb left or right while it falls. You can also flick down to drop it sooner. It's not a game of speed — it's a game of deciding which tube each orb goes into.
How often do ads appear? Can I remove them?
One full-screen ad appears after every two games. There are no banner ads. “Remove ads” in the ☰ menu ($0.99, one-time purchase) stops ads from appearing. It is not a subscription.
My score doesn't show up on the leaderboard.
Leaderboards use Apple's Game Center. Please sign in under Settings > Game Center on your iPhone. The leaderboard score is the total of your best score in each stage (0–1000), and it is sent each time a game ends.
Can I turn off the sound?
Yes. Tap [sound] at the bottom of the screen to turn it on or off. Your choice is remembered.
